Jason DeCorse is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, recording musician, and educator whose work spans Tucson desert rock and Los Angeles alternative rock. DeCorse has performed with Tucson band Greyhound Soul since the early 1990s. His career also includes Lo Mass Republic and The Icarus Line.
Artist background
In 2003, the Los Angeles Times reported that Lo Mass Republic had signed with Arista Records and identified Jason as the band’s newest guitarist. The article described the textured, atmospheric playing and strong presence the group was seeking.
Jason later joined Los Angeles band The Icarus Line. An OC Weekly feature on the band’s 2007 live show highlighted the guitar work of DeCorse and James Striff as part of the group’s intense, groove-driven sound.
With The Icarus Line, Jason completed two tours through Europe opening for The Cult.
Coverage of Greyhound Soul has also noted Jason’s expressive guitar work. A Vintage Guitar profile of songwriter Joe Peña discusses Jason’s atmospheric parts on the band’s music and Peña’s admiration for his playing. A live review from Sounds of South singled out Jason’s slide playing and Telecaster tones.
Teaching at The Rockademy
At The Rockademy in Solana Beach, Jason teaches guitar and bass and coaches student bands. He helps students build technique, timing, confidence, and musical independence through practical work shaped around each student’s interests and goals.
Students can start with individual lessons and, when their teacher feels they are ready, work toward the optional next step of playing in a band.
